All is well! Last long run yesterday went smoothly 11.2 miles 9:05 pace. I think I've acclimated to the sudden onset of spring. And I got started on my fly tank/shorts tan. So attractive. Another good reason to wear sunscreen. We don't want to end up like this guy.
Back to training, I've been looking at pace calculators, trying to figure out a reasonable time goal, and I think I can do 1:55. That would be an 8:45 - 8:50 pace.
If I don't make that goal, all will not be lost, as long as I cross the finish line on my feet this time. This is especially important now that Half-Fast has informed me timing chips don't get read if you cross the mat by walking on your hands. They don't mention rolling - My chip did get read when I fell at the finish 2 years ago. I guess as long as I can manage to keep my feet relatively close to the ground, I'll be safe.

Go Dawn!
I'll try to catch a glimpse of you at the Bklyn 1/2, before you disappear ahead of me in a cloud of dust.
Oh, and those pictures of you stumbling somehow look much better than the pictures they usually get of me. I've heard a lot of people say that I look comfortable and happy when I run, yet somehow the pictures always look like I'm giving birth to panther triplets while I've got a hernia.
I'll look for you on the 3rd!
I've gotten pretty adept at looking for the cameras and putting on the fake smile. It just takes practice. Don't worry, you'll get there.
Good luck Dawn and all of you running the BK half!! I'll be there with you in spirit! Because, while you cutie pies train for the Brooklyn Half- I'm here 1500 miles away training for the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon on Sunday 5/4! I just had to imitate what you're up to. Doesn't the hoky name befit how far away I am?? I have to say that though I miss Prospect Park and all the very cool NYC runners like Dawn- I am enjoying the endless lakeside runs where no cars interrupt you for as long as you want to run. And there are some serious nordic runners here built to intimidate even the grittiest new yorker, but I guess it makes you dig in a little deeper while you train. Ahh- but, there is no replacement for the sweet sounds of Dawn saying something semi-cynical in the kindest voice ever and looking of course, as always- perfect- like she was born running. I miss you!!
