I like to be in the front of the pack when I run. This a bit of a problem considering 99.9% of the time, I will not be in the front of any packs when I'm running. Last night, however, I did a little speed workout with Jack Rabbit training group that consisted of mile and half-mile repeats, and I was in the lead group the whole time!!! It was so much easier to run my own pace when I wasn't try to keep up with people who are much faster than me. Which is what I would do when I trained with TNT. I'd go out too fast, burn out half way through the workout, get all discouraged, and essentially give up. So...I suppose I need to get over it. It's hard though. Being in the front was fun last night. Plus, look how well I'd fit in with the leaders!

I think it is all in your head! Although, you should be at the front of the pack, you have much nicer legs than Paula.

Dawn - i LOVE your blog! I just read every entry. Is it pathetic to admit that's what i've done on a Sat. night? Favorite items: the About a Runner entry (I've always been a little suspect of a book with a cover that bears a striking resemblance to Judy Blume's "Then Again, Maybe I Won't" - aka: the guys' version of "Are You There God..."); the runners' gear you've never used (I stopped using my heart rate monitor watch after 3 times; i couldn't stop the beeping); photos of Sister; recipes that include lots of garlic; and a photo of the Sigg. But most of all - I can't believe you shared your secrets to looking great after a run!!! You know this is going to change everything for me - have to run out and get that lip gloss. :) Keep up the deeeelightful blogging!!

nice photoshopping, lol. I think if you are in the front of the pack, you have this 'don't let the people behind me pass me' mentality. Something that a back-of-the-pack runner does not have. So I see it as an advantage to lead a pack. There are drawbacks, like getting drafted, but I think it's worth it..
