This is my first Summer Olympics since I started running, and I'm ridiculously excited to see the marathons especially, but all of the track and field events too. Usually, I'm all about gymnastics and diving, but this year, I'm all "when is the running going to start??"
Well, the qualifying heats started today, and Lopez Lomong qualified in the 1500m. If you don't know about him yet, read up. He's got an amazing story, and I'm probably rooting for him more than any other athlete.
The Women's 10,000m final was today, and Shalane Flanagan of the U.S. brought home the bronze.
Also, the Women's Marathon is tomorrow!!! You won't even have to stay up until 1 am to see it all - coverage starts at 7:30 pm. Men's is next Saturday. Here's the full NBC Track and Field TV coverage schedule.
Exciting stuff!
