I saw this aricle last week, but forgot to post it. It's a good one. Unlike all that triatholon stuff they've been publishing lately.
It's mostly about recovering after hard workouts. We probably know by now that we're supposed to eat something within 30 minutes of finishing a hard workout. The news is that we should be eating a combination of carbs and protein, not just carbs. Carbs to replenish glycogen, and protein to aid the synthesis of the carbs and to jumpstart muscle repair.
The question is what to eat or drink? The author suggests chocolate milk. Perfect combination of carbs and protein. Chocolate milk sitting in my bag in the blazing sun for 2 hours while I do my long runs? Not a good idea. I wonder if it would keep if I froze it. There's always the old standby's pb&j or a nutrition bar. Anyone else have any better ideas?
