Running has changed my life. It has given me a community, a purpose, a boyfriend, serenity and much more I'm sure. So why not share that with the world, or at least that portion of the world who reads blogs.
I'll start training again for the New York City Marathon in May. I train with a group, and I also fundraise for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation as a member of Team Reeve. I truly believe there is no greater foundation or non-profit on earth. They have dramatically changed the way we think and talk about spinal cord injuries and have given real hope to millions of people. One of the proudest days in my running life was November 4, 2007 when I got to wear my Team Reeve shirt and run through the streets of my hometown - all in honor of my dad. http://www.christopherreeve.org/teamreeve
But it's January now, and the marathon high seems to have finally worn off. Right now I am supposed to be "maintaining a base." Technically that would be a couple easy runs, a couple slow tempo runs and a long run up to 12 miles each week. What it actually seems to mean is run whenever it's not too cold or too dark or too wet and just run whatever distance feels right on a given day (which has been no more than 7 miles!).
It happens to be 62 degrees at this moment. So let me get out there and see what feels right!!
